Acne is a disease of the hair follicles that affects almost
all teenagers during puberty. Acne is a
disease that affects the skin’s oil glands. The small holes in the skin (pores)
connect to oil glands under the skin and the glands make an oily substance
called sebum. Follicle, a kind of canal
connect the pores to the glands. Inside
the follicles, oil carries dead skin cells to the surface of the skin and when
the follicle of a skin gland clogs up, a pimple grows. Most of the time pimples are found on the
face, neck, shoulders, back. Though it
is not a serious health threat, but it can result into forming scars if not
treated on time.
There are myths prevailed in our society like parents
usually their teen children to avoid greasy and fried foods. This thought does
not match medical findings, some recent studies have implicated a
high-carbohydrate diet, milk, and pure chocolate cause aggravation of acne.
Some say that sweat causes acne but truly speaking excessive washing can dry
and irritate the skin. Even stress does
not play direct role in causing acne.
The main causing factors for acne are some medications like
bromides or injected steroids which bodybuilders take. The menstrual cycle,
anxiety and stress, hot and humid climates, excess user oil-based makeup and squeezing
pimples aggravate acne. The exposure to industrial products in some jobs like
cutting oils may produce acne. The data
shows that it affects 3 in every 4 people aged 11 to 30 years.
The treatment depends on how severe and persistent the acne
is. There are plenty of oral medicines available in the market to cure acne
i.e. Benzoyl peroxide, Salicylic acid Retin-A , Azelaic acid. These medicines kill
bacteria, accelerates the replacement of skin, and slows the production of
sebum. The data shows that these
medicines does not work permanently as chemical peels and oral medication help
in minimizing the size. Frankly speaking,
combination of several procedures is required to treat more serious acne and
solution lies taking help from the expert dermatologist. They are best equipped to deal with the
severity of acne for each individual. Dr. S. K. Kashyap at Delhi has expertise in acne scar treatment and to treat all type of acnes as this
disease has different implications for every individual. Skin specialists
sometimes advise skin treatments to deal with acne.
In certain cases, a single skin treatment will work, however
often treatments are required in combination with prescription drugs to achieve
the desired results. It is advised not
to try home remedies and scrubs which would can flare up acne and make the skin
condition miserable much worse. Dr. S. K. Kashyap says that for very large painful
cystic pimples, no chemical peel is worth.
It can be treated only with Intraregional Corticosteroid Injection. In the recent past, numerous kinds of laser
& light skin treatments have been proven beneficial in dealing with acne.
The right time to treat acne is as early as possible so that
spread of acne can be prevented. A
person’s careless can result into development of harsh pimple develops all of a
sudden. Think for a moment if a person
has to attend an urgent business meeting.
